Editors: Laurent Ramadier, Heinz Konzett, Matt Coe
Issue number 9 represents the most productive era of the legendary Snakepit heavy metal magazine between 1999 and 2002, when issues #5 to #11 were released. Editor Laurent Ramadier (who later continued the magazine on his own) had a strong team consisting of Heinz Konzett and Matt Coe (now deadrhetoric.com), and the magazine began to shine with its super lengthy and detailed interviews, delving into band chronologies from their origins and revealing details that cannot be found elsewhere.
Interviewed acts include Anacrusis, Anvil, Forbidden, Manilla Road, Powermad, and many more, featuring rare specials such as talks with Metallica's very first bass player Ron McGovney, Chris Poland (Damn the Machine, Megadeth), Jon Torres (Laaz Rockit), and lesser-known bands like Thunderhead or Ulysses Siren. The issue also includes a label special with Heavy Metal Records and regular sections featuring demo, fanzine, album, and EP reviews.
You can order archive books of Snakepit issues #1 to #13, as well as its latest issues, from Sonic Age Heavy Metal Store.
